Mission

The Houston Area Alumni Chapter provides a medium through which the alumni may work to advance the growth and development of AAMU. We assist AAMU in the recruitment of students, promote the development of public & private support for the university, engage in activities that enhance the university’s reputation and foster the progression of alumni in the Houston area.

Join AAMU Houston Area Alumni Chapter for great opportunities to meet your fellow Bulldogs from southeast Texas and beyond. Make connections, meet someone new at one of our happy hours, gatherings, game day tailgates, or cookouts.

AAMU Houston Area Alumni Association is the official alumni chapter of Alabama A&M University in Houston Area. We are associated with the national Alumni Association in Huntsville. We raise money to give back to Alabama A&M University and its student by way of scholarship opportunities.

President's Message



Daryl Upshaw, Jr.

Greetings Alumni,

This is Daryl Upshaw a 2006 graduate of AAMU and a resident of Katy, TX. I am thrilled & honored to serve as President of Houston Area Alumni Chapter of Alabama A&M University for the 2024-2026 term.

Much appreciation to outgoing President Faith Washington who did an outstanding job leading our chapter for the past 4 years. I look forward to working with you to help elevate the Houston Area Alumni Chapter to the next level as we find innovative ways to provide support to area students/alumni throughout the Houston area. As I look ahead to what our chapter will do and become, it’s important that we continue to embark on the traditions and foundations of the university, after all AAMU will be celebrating 150 years of education, service, and excellence in 2025!

I look forward to meeting many of you at a future event and invite you to join us via Zoom for our monthly meeting which are held 3rd Saturdays of each month @ 4 p.m.

Thank you for the opportunity to lead the Houston Area Chapter. Together we will celebrate, learn, support & serve throughout the Houston area with our community, fellow and future bulldogs.
